Why Choose Us

Our experienced team of psychiatrist and practitioners works with you to rewire the dysfunctional stress patterns at the root of your physical and emotional symptoms. With your psychoneuroimmunology system returned to balance, mental health treatment becomes more effective, and real transformation can take place.

Physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental health each play a vital role in your overall wellness. Our neuroscience body-based approach treats each of these aspects of your health as a way to provide you with lasting results. At Jones Wellness Center, you will receive the individual attention you need to explore the underlying root cause of your mental health or eating disorder. Additionally, our highly credentialed staff and mind-body approach can be customized for patients at any stage of their healing journey.

We offer treatment programs for adolescents, age 13-17, and adults, age 18+. Our program includes a range of therapies to help you practice self-expression, self-exploration, and self-compassion that move you forward in your path to recovery. Psychotherapy, Yoga, Nutrition Counseling, Art Therapy, and Medication Management may be part of your weekly schedule. This integrative approach allows us to get to know you and treat you as a whole person, not just a collection of symptoms or a diagnosis. The max group size is 6 to cultivate an intimate healing space.

Our treatment approach

At Jones Wellness Center we believe that full recovery is possible. We offer a tailored and comprehensive care approach that treats the mind, body, and emotions.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is useful in treating intense mood disorders and suicidal ideation, as well as for changing unhelpful behavioral patterns such as self-harm.

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is a behavioral therapy that gradually exposes people to situations designed to trigger an emotional reaction in a safe environment. This process helps patients overcome their fears.

Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) focuses on making each member of a family unit feel emotionally secure to be able to discuss issues and concerns.

Our Dietitians specialize in Exposure and Response Prevention, Health At Every Size, Intuitive Eating, and an All Foods Fit approach.

The difference between an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Outpatient Program (OP)

An intensive outpatient program can function as a step-down from residential, in-patient, or partial hospitalization. It is designed for patients who experience significant stress, anxiety, or depression whose needs cannot be met by traditional outpatient treatment. It provides more support and accountability than an outpatient program, but allows patients to continue to work, attend school, or otherwise integrate treatment into their everyday lives. Jones Wellness Center’s intensive outpatient program offers a range of therapeutic modalities designed to guide patients through their recovery journey. Support is provided through individual psychotherapy, group psychoeducation, multi family therapy, medication management, and body work. Treatment includes 9-15 hours of support each week. It is 3-5 weekdays for 3 hours each day. The program is 6-8 weeks and covered by most major insurance plans.

An outpatient program is designed for patients seeking 2-4 hours of individual psychotherapy per month. Outpatient is also covered by most insurance plans.

The transition from Outpatient Care to Inpatient

There are times when outpatient care may not be right for you and a transition from outpatient to inpatient is necessary.

Patients who are struggling with eating disorder behaviors and require medical stabilization will be referred to Eating Recovery Center. ERC and Jones Wellness Center clinical staff collaborate to facilitate a successful transition to Inpatient eating disorder treatment.

Patients who are struggling with active suicidal thoughts and require 24/7 medical and psychological support will be referred to Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire. BHB and Jones Wellness Center clinical staff collaborate to mitigate immediate risk and prepare patients for continuing care after treatment.

Conditions We Treat

Mood disorders are characterized by persistent mood swings. People with mood disorders experience severe low mood (depression) or elevated mood (mania) for an extended period of time – above and beyond what most people would consider to be typical feelings of sadness or happiness.

Depression may look like low mood, hopelessness, low motivation, low energy, or anhedonia.

Anxiety Disorders cause people to have feelings of worry or fear that negatively affect their school, work, relationships, or home life. They are among the most common mental illnesses in the United States.

A traumatic event is an event that involves relational trauma, death, serious injury, or sexual violence. These events can be threatened or actually experienced. By nature, these events are shocking or overwhelming. When an individual develops chronic, long-lasting symptoms following a trauma, they may be diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Self-harm behaviors are characterized by deliberately hurting your own body, such as cutting or burning, to cope with emotional pain, sadness, anger, or stress.

Suicide behaviors describe history of thoughts, plans, and/or actions taken to end your life.

Anorexia Nervosa is characterized by an obsessive fear of weight gain and a refusal to maintain a healthy body weight.

Bulimia is characterized by patterns of bingeing and purging.

Binge eating disorder is characterized by frequent overeating, at least once a week for three months, combined with a lack of control, intense feelings of distress, and several other characteristic behaviors.

Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, is often described as being a “picky eater.” It frequently begins as early as infancy or childhood, but adults can also suffer.

PICA is characterized by compulsively eating one or more nonfood items such as paper, clay, ash, or dirt.
